Early childhood is a fundamental phase in the life of a human being. Therefore, it is essential that parents invest in practices that help promote the proper development of their children.
In this context, it is recommended to use toys for babies accompanied by specific activities that visually and sensorially stimulate children.
Infant and early childhood development
The baby's first year is marked by rapid development in different physical and sensory aspects. Next, we explain what happens during this period.
Up to two months
In the first two months of life, the baby moves little and his vision is very limited. However, little by little, he begins to react to visual stimuli, observing the crib mobiles and toys.
In general, in the second month he is already more alert and can distinguish sounds in the environment. Including, it's common for him to be scared by very loud sounds, so it's recommended to keep the baby in silent environments.
Although he still doesn't understand, he already listens, so it's important for parents to talk and make eye contact with the baby.
Up to four months
In the period between two and four months, the child begins to interact more. At this stage, she is already able to pick up things and make different sounds.
It's an interesting time to invest in visual and sensory stimuli, so parents can already start presenting toys, inviting them to touch and pick up things.
As the child can put the toys in his mouth, it is important that they are clean and that they are suitable for his age group.
Up to six months
Between four and six months the child is already interacting more. At this stage you can present new toys and even books. Encourage the child to change positions, roll over and reach for objects.
This period is marked by the emission of even more expressive sounds, so it is interesting to talk and stimulate this sense.
Up to nine months
In the period between six and nine months, the child already begins to show preference for some people, mainly family members with whom he has more contact.
It's an interesting time to develop sign language. At this stage, the child also tends to try to repeat words, so it is interesting to talk and sing to him.
Around nine months the child may be crawling. However, it is important to note that this varies greatly from one child to another, with some taking a little longer.
Up to twelve months
The games are becoming more and more interactive and the child is now able to respond to simple requests such as sending a kiss or saying goodbye. At this stage, the child can begin to form the first words and lean on objects in an attempt to stand up.
Stimuli help in development
Visual and sensory stimuli are very important for the development of babies and children. Therefore, interactions must be carried out throughout the entire development phase.
We mentioned the first year, however, at each moment of life a new skill is developed and parents must be attentive to each one of them, helping the children.
Look for toys and educational books suitable for each stage. Children are naturally curious, so choose materials that can be handled safely.
With proper guidance and the right stimuli, your child will develop healthily. However, if you notice that the child seems to have difficulties with a specific aspect of development, or if concerns arise about the child's health, it is important to talk to the pediatrician.
